Also known as gastric cancer, stomach cancer is a disease in which cancer originates in the stomach cells. There are different types of stomach cancer, and they each grow in different parts of the stomach. The kinds of cancer cells in various types of stomach cancer also look different. Adenocarcinoma is the most common type of stomach cancer. Other types of stomach cancers include lymphomas, gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) and carcinoid tumors.
